2007-2011 my life...

So where do I start, moving into halls? or cooking for the first time? or running in my Student Union elections?

Uni has been a whirl wind for me, I remember there was a time in secondary school I was thinking 'I don't want to go to university I just want to work at Next all of my life' how wrong could I be??? I have not blogged (properly) for a good while now, I seem to be busy a lot of the time, if its not working, I am back London catching up with family and friends or just chilling and relaxing. I have been told by countless people time and time again that I should write a blog I seriously didn't know what to write...life in general or just what has happened to me recently? I thought I might as well give you the gist well kind of....

so where to start...University its 2007 I go to Uni I meet some really really good and cool people (who I am still friends with till this day) and of course I met some foolish people (who I are on my facebook), during this time I was only a novice in the blogging world, I done a few posts here and there attended a few parties with Dane and Elijah (thanks guys) started listening to Dubstep/D and B etc etc the scene was nice, I still remember when my tutor asked who wanted to become a Course Rep my hand and Patrick's shot up first so we both became course reps, we didn't do that much as course reps we attended the meetings and reported back to our class mates that was it, I even joined the Fencing Club and the Radio Station at my union Phil was a DJ on the station. I went to a few club nights I loved it, my next door neighbor in halls use to sell club night tickets I helped him out every now and then, then I got recruited I loved the job (Club Night Promoting is such a good career builder) I don't care what NO ONE SAYS! Many people bad mouth it, but when you stood outside handing people flyers or selling tickets in the cold you learn ALOT, Lots of people say I have good people skills I can only thank a few people for nurturing the skills they are of course Garry, Katy and Hannah (LEGENDS) haha, the year ended on a high for me :)

2008 I move into a house with 2 friends, shock horror I learn how to cook woop woop, I still remember talking to Alex on the phone stressing out discussing what we were going to eat as we couldn't cook I believe we had a whole week of take outs planned and Friday was Fish and Chips and I remember him saying to get some Omega 3 in our systems (LOL), 2008 was also the year I was an Events Manger with Simon it was a good partnership I felt, I was held accountable and I also learned how to manager people (Which was not easy specially when they were friends), Garry was my manager there as well, he taught me some valuable skills which I will never forget and he gave me my most critical appraisal as well!, in all honesty the club night didn't do that well, so it died off, but I was slightly happy as I could concentrate on University work and gaining a placement, I also had a taste of elections as I ran for a post within the ACS

2009 was an exciting year as I moved back to London woop woop, this meant of I got to spend more time with family and my mates from back home it was really really a good time, (the London club scene is out of this world), I went on placement during this year, I was pushed to my limits, there was no one to fall back on, all the work I did had to be top notch, my manager there pushed me alot, which I am thankful for, I met some really good people during my placement some of whom I am still in contact with, this year I used as a real opportunity to get my name out there in terms of gaining a grad job after university so I had my fingers in all sorts of pies from Social media (working at 1000 heads and Widen and Kennedy) doing the Nike and Twitter projects to running a 10k Charity race to attending networking events with big banks (thanks Steve and Rotimi) I learned so much once again, I knew for a fact the Corporate world and/or marketing were ideal for me, also completing the placement year grew my determination to succeed at University

2010 I go back to university, I stayed in halls and worked as a Resident Assistant which was really cool, I kind of just kept myself to myself last year working hard in my room, just minding my business, I didn't go out at all :) (good me), I have always represented the unrepresented so when I saw the opportunity to run for the Business school faculty rep position I jumped at the opportunity, once elected I was bang on it from arranging meetings with the IT management to high level meetings within the faculty I made some changes some were really bad (the PRINTERS) for one :(, May and Ibs almost ate my head off lol, but hey I managed to get it changed back, University was finally finished, not really...the elections at my SU came up I never really felt part of the Union click, I was you could say disillusioned, disenfranchised and non engaged (ugh I can't believe I just wrote them 3 words) with the union, Gabrielle my friend from school asked me if I was going to run in the elections my initial thought was NO! too much accountability, then a friend I kind of looked up to, firstly because he is very tall and older and seen the world a bit more, sat down and spoke to me about it, and before you knew it, I was talking to Mose and Olly, about designs and ideas in terms of a campaign, I would just like to say Thank you to Marsha, Karimah, Kev, Kyle, Lewis, Steve, Tola, Luci, Leila, Ryan, Clare, Desmond, Ben, Av, Joe, Yomi, Mose, Olly, Rohit, Harmsh, Steve, Dan, MJ, Yann, Yasmina, Matt, James, Chris, Daniel, Tomiwa, Nick, Akeem, David, May, Alex, Jaffa, Debs, Harry, Joel, John, James, Ralph, George, Ginny, Dan, Niosha, Ben, Molly, Nigel, J, Togla, Christal, Claire, Dami, Dan, Ben, the whole of the HRM 2007-2011 crew, Bright Sparks crew, Rees and Burrell Halls students, without you guys pushing me every minute of the week, I probs would not be in the post so thank you! I must say I have met some brill people from student politics movement I am still learning to be honest,

So what is next for me...who knows go back home sleep for a good few years, re-election, be a mummys boy (all over again)....

I started writing this blog at 11.02 and now its 01.04, I must sleep its freshers week :)

My blog has never been politically or critical its just a space where I write/post things that interest me it may become political it may be critical but who knows, all the best

Over and out (star track sign)

GAJ (I actually finished off an email with this once) haha
